Daivajna Brahmans with an orthodox Vedic backgroundhistory of more than four thousand years are Rugvedis. They are followers of “Grahya Sutra” was advocated by great Sage Ashwalaayan. They belong to theSaptarushi tribe of the Vedic period. The Vedic heritage of Daivajna Brahmanssociety indicates that they were engaged in religious activities like pooja,yajna etc. As such, they came to be known as Daivajna. For centuries, theylived on the banks of the Saraswati river and hence they were also known asSaraswats. During the Vedic times, this prosperous Saraswati river was thekarma land of the Daivajna Brahmans.”Konkani” is the mothertongue of Daivajna Brahmans which has a Devanagari script.
